Our Mission: To end hunger in Orange County. Our Vision: Together we are creating a future where no one goes hungry. Our Strategy: Second Harvest Food Bank reaches out to the community for donations, grants, fundraising, food drives, food rescue, harvesting and volunteers to help provide food, education and advocacy for the hungry. We work with partners in the community to create innovative, sustainable ways to end hunger in Orange County.

Volunteer Opportunity

Food Distribution Center: Second Harvest’s Food Distribution Center (FDC) at our location in Irvine is the place where we make it all happen. This is where our staff and volunteers work together to sort, package and distribute enough food to feed 200,000 men, women and children each month. Incredible Edible Farm: The Incredible Edible Farm (IEF) is a public-private partnership between the City of Irvine, the OC Great Park, Solutions for Urban Agriculture, and Second Harvest Food Bank which was created to help alleviate our county’s hunger problem. Izzy’s Corner: At Izzy’s Corner kids ages 7 to13-years old help sort and package nutritious produce in a safe, kid-friendly environment located inside our food distribution center (FDC). Each Izzy’s Corner session starts with a brief tour of the FDC, allowing children and their adult chaperones to learn more about Second Harvest, our mission, and the people we serve. Our Food Distribution Center (FDC) has shifts Tuesday-Thursday 8:30-11:30am, and 12:00-3:00pm; Friday 8:30-11:30am (no PM shift is offered) and Saturday 9:00-12:00pm and 1:00-4:00pm. All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. •In the FDC kids 14-17 can volunteer •At the Incredible Edible Farm, the minimum age is 7-years-old •At Izzy’s Corner, kids 7-13 years-old can volunteer
